The Deep Dive

The Broker Focus:
Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the truck: defending a new era of truck claims after Montgomery. You’ll come away knowing where the law stands after Montgomery and what it means for broker claims going forward.

Presenters will explain how brokers operate and the tools they use, the angles plaintiffs take to go after them, and the strategies and tools that can reduce that exposure. The session also covers how to draft contracts with these claims in mind and how insurance comes into play. 

The Discovery Focus:
Discovery can shape the outcome long before trial, and its effects often reach well past the verdict. This advanced seminar will cover discovery across the full range of trucking claims, from broker-focused discovery to the appellate court’s review of a discovery ruling. We'll take a look at discovery from every side of a trucking case.

Presenters will share practical strategies for defending brokers, who face more scrutiny than ever. A motor carrier panel will cover what plaintiffs target, how carriers can prepare and respond, how in-house teams and outside counsel can work together, and how to protect the record for appeal. A judicial panel will explain what moves the court on motions to compel, protective orders and sanctions, and how trial-level discovery rulings play out on appeal.
