About the Trucking Industry Defense Association (TIDA)

The Trucking Industry Defense Association (TIDA) is a growing, highly dynamic organization with membership recently exceeding 1,600 industry professionals in both the United States (U.S.) and Canada. We are committed to engaging in actions and activities that reduce loss costs to the trucking industry. We accomplish this through education, providing resource materials to our members, and, above all, by maintaining a membership of attorneys and trucking and insurance industry representatives that possess the knowledge, skill and capacity to provide extraordinary support to one another.

Mission Statement

TIDA seeks to be the industry organization of choice for motor carriers, trucking insurers, defense attorneys, and claims servicing companies. Uniquely representative of the entire industry, TIDA members share their knowledge and resources to promote risk management, operational economies and the reduction of costs associated with accidents, claims and lawsuits.

TIDA was founded in 1993 and has become the organization of choice for over 1,500 motor carriers, trucking insurers, defense attorneys and claims servicing companies.

Core Philosophies

TIDA is a valuable resource to all of its members, providing services that include:

Being at the forefront of information — Through an annual seminar, an intensive one-day course and a skills course for less experienced members as well as electronic information sharing, TIDA has the best collective knowledge and data from across the country to keep the membership informed and aware of the latest trends in the industry.

Providing members-only resources on the web — The TIDA website offers members the opportunity to research and gather information or contact other members for support with the speed necessary while defending a claim. The site provides the most recent technical, regulatory, expert witness and legal resources available for TIDA members.

Maintaining membership at the highest professional level — The membership criteria for TIDA is set at a high level to ensure that only the most qualified can share in TIDA's resources.

Creating quality networking opportunities for members — TIDA offers attorney, trucking and insurance representatives educational, resource and networking opportunities to help expand their knowledge of the latest defense strategies for the trucking industry. TIDA members adhere to a unique policy which prohibits unwanted marketing overtures.

Antitrust Statement

It is the Trucking Industry Defense Association's (TIDA) policy to comply with all federal and state antitrust laws. The responsibility for our antitrust compliance rests with TIDA’s individual directors, officers, administrators and members and any attendees at a TIDA meeting or seminar or at a meeting or meetings held by members at a TIDA-sponsored event.

Antitrust laws require that competitors may not restrain competition among themselves regarding the price, quality or distribution of any products or services, and that they may not act in concert to restrict the competitive capabilities or opportunities of their competitors, suppliers or customers.

It is generally unlawful to fix prices, boycott or to engage in anti-competitive conduct. Anti-competitive conduct in the context of a TIDA meeting or seminar or of meetings held by members at a TIDA sponsored event can have legal consequences both criminal and civil. Therefore, it is important that all TIDA directors, officers, administrators, members or other attendees at a TIDA meeting or seminar, or at a meeting or meetings held by members at a TIDA-sponsored event avoid this conduct, or even the appearance of it, in their activities at all times.

It is imperative that TIDA board members, officers, administrators and members and meeting or seminar attendees work conscientiously to avoid any discussion that may have unintended implications.
